Fire Police Officer Struck While Directing Traffic, PA Police Say

A fire police officer was struck by a passing car while directing traffic for a tow truck, according to Pennsylvania state police.

Darryl L. Krom, 58, of Hanover, was hit by a Kia near the intersection of Hanover Pike and Pine Grove Road in Union Township on Sept. 23 just before 7 p.m., as stated in the police report.

Krom was transported by Southeastern Adams Volunteer Emergency Services to Gettysburg Hospital, as the report stated.

He was treated for a “suspected serious injury,” according to police.

An updated on Krom's condition is not available but it has been confirmed that the incident was not fatal, State Trooper Meghan Ammerman told Daily Voice on Friday.

The 2017 Kia Forte was operated by Joshua Raymond Luellen, 27, of Hampstead, Maryland, according to police.

Luellen was charged with the following on Oct. 2, according to court dockets:

  • S Obedience to Authorized Persons Directing Traffic
  • S Driving Vehicle At Safe Speed
  • S Careless Driving

His preliminary hearing is yet to be scheduled.
